3D Printed Thermometer Holder for SAF Standard Issue Water Bottle
Created to solve the issue of NSFs having to take their temperature and drink 500ml of water before every activity, we designed and created this, a thermometer holder that clips onto the SAF standard issue water bottle. In the past, the thermometers were simply taped onto the bottle, leaving sticky residue and making a mess whenever the water bottle got wet. There was not much of a choice as it was either that or leave it on the ground to be trampled on. With the use of tape, the thermometers were not able to be easily removed either. This caused the problem of the thermometers being brought out to sea (in the Navy), which damaged them. With this clipped on 3D printed thermometer holder, there is no longer a need to tape the thermometers to the water bottle and it can be easily detached, eliminating the issue of the thermometers being brought out to see and being damaged. With this, prep time is reduced and the thermometers were no longer at risk of being damaged.
Fire Extinguisher Mount
Noticing that wall mounted fire extinguishers tend to not only swing and damage the wall but cause a risk of the fire extinguisher falling and causing injury, we designed a mount to prevent the fire extinguishers from swinging. The first iteration of the mount was a static one, unable to be adjusted to fit the many different sizes and types of fire extinguishers. The current iteration, is able to be expanded to fit larger fire extinguishers. They can be either screwed into the wall with the screw points included in the design or stuck on with tape. The mount ensures that there is a gap between the wall and the extinguisher, preventing contact and thus preventing the extinguisher from damaging the wall. It also hugs the extinguisher, preventing left to right movement, lowering the risk of it being swung off the hook. This lowers the risk of it dropping and causing injury significantly.
